When the Theater Geert Teis in the Netherlands was looking for an air handling unit (AHU) solution to deliver a sustainable, energy-efficient, and comfortable indoor environment, Mark Climate Technology had the pitch perfect solution. An Airstream HWX heat recovery unit equipped with three integrated DX heat pumps and an air volume of 15,000 m3/h, was selected for the project, allowing theatre visitors to enjoy culture in optimal conditions.

The project

Theater Geert Teis is a leading regional theatre in the northern part of the Netherlands, on the border of Groningen and Drenthe. It is located in the centre of a town called Stadskanaal and has been the cultural heart of the region for many years. Every year, the theatre hosts around 100 professional performances to an audience up to 628 guests.

Indoor air quality (IAQ) in public buildings such as theatres is required to meet increasingly strict standards. However, in meeting these requirements, the use of traditional ventilation systems often results in high energy losses. In buildings requiring heating, cooling and ventilation across large spaces, this poses a big problem in terms of ongoing energy costs. For the Theater Geert Teis this was a key consideration when choosing a new HVAC system.

The product

The Eurovent-certified Mark Airstream recovers up to 90% of the extracted thermal energy. This means that up to 90% of the discharged energy is transferred to the fresh supply air. Because of this high efficiency, no extra heating is needed in most cases. However, if extra cooling or heating is required, three integrated heat pumps ensure not only a constant supply of fresh air, but also efficient heating and cooling.

Every air handling unit is fully assembled, tested, and delivered Plug & Play from the factory. This guarantees reliable operation, reduced installation time, and proven performance according to independent Eurovent Certification.
