While the HVAC industry may be facing many challenges linked with decarbonisation, digitalisation and skills gaps, it’s still an exciting time to be involved in the sector. Across a background of regulatory change and technological innovation, trade bodies are helping their members adapt, innovate, and thrive. In France, Eurovent Certification is supporting the work of the Union des Métiers du Génie Climatique, de la Couverture et de la Plomberie – UMGCCP (Union of HVAC Engineering, Roofing and Plumbing). This article explores the work of the UMGCCP and Eurovent Certification’s support.
The UMGCCP brings together 15,000 HVAC, maintenance, roofing and plumbing companies throughout France, 80% of which have fewer than 10 employees. Members range from independent craftsmen and SMEs to large national contractors, forming a comprehensive network that reflects the entire HVAC and building services sector.
The UMGCCP is the result of the merger on 1st January 2019 between the UECF (Union of HVAC and Energy Engineering Companies of France) and the UNCP (National Union of Roofing and Plumbing Trade Union Chambers of France). Operating under the broader umbrella of the FFB (Fédération Française du Bâtiment), the UMGCCP plays a vital role in supporting businesses and advancing technical excellence, innovation, and sustainability within the building sector.
The UMGCCP is committed to:
Through advocacy, technical support, and networking, it ensures that HVAC, roofing, and plumbing professionals remain at the forefront of sustainable building practices in France.
Congress sits at the centre of the UMGCCP’s events calendar, featuring a full technical programme and gala dinner. Eurovent Certification has acted as a partner organisation for Congress for several years. Our France Partnerships Manager, Sophie Bocquillon, has also had the pleasure of speaking at the 2023, 2024 and 2025 conferences, covering topics on heat pump acoustics, ventilation and IAQ and geothermal heat pump technology.
The UMGCCP and Eurovent Certification have also partnered up across industry events to educate HVAC professionals. At the most recent Interclima in autumn 2024, Eurovent invited UMGCCP to join two joint presentations, one on Ventilation Solutions and Assessment Methods to Improve IAQ in Indoor Spaces,” and one on, “Case studies: Certified technologies: how to choose the right heat pump.”
As the building sector undergoes rapid change, the UMGCCP plays a central role through advocacy, technical support, and networking. For Eurovent Certification, partnerships with organisations such as UMGCCP bring s real value, as alignment on key issues to helps to support the wider building sector. We look forward to many more years of working in collaboration.
