Scope of the programme

Are included in the scope:
- Single module outdoor units for VRF units with a cooling capacity above 12kW
- VRF units below 12 kW, declared and published as combination of outdoor and indoor units according to the testing limits

with the following characteristics:
   o Air or water source,
   o Reversible, heating-only and cooling-only.

Heat recovery units are included in the scope but the heat recovery function is not certified.

High ambient systems are included in the scope as an option (because not sold on the European market) but tested under standard conditions as specified in Rating Standard RS 6/C/008.

Are excluded from the scope:
- VRF systems above 12 kW with data declared and published as combinations of outdoor(s) + indoor(s).
- Multiple module outdoor units.
- Units not fulfilling the requirements of Regulation 2016/2281.

Heat recovery units are included in the scope but the heat recovery function is not certified.
High ambient systems are included in the scope but tested under standard conditions as specified in RS 6/C/008.

Certify-all: The programme covers all VRF systems with the limitation of cooling capacities of approved independent laboratories. The company participating to this certification programme shall certify all standard production models below the following cooling capacity at standard conditions:

Definitions given in EN 14511-3:2018 and EN 14511-3:2018 Annex I apply.
Definitions given in EN 14825:2016 apply.
Definitions given in standard ISO 15042:2017, SASO 2874:2016 and GSO 03 Draft.

In addition, the following definitions apply:

System capacity ratio:
Ratio of the total stated cooling (heating) capacity of all operating indoor units to the stated cooling (heating) capacity of the outdoor unit at the rating conditions.
Outdoor cooling capacity (Pc, outdoor)
Total cooling capacity of the outdoor unit measured as the total indoor cooling capacity unit
Outdoor heating capacity (Ph, outdoor)
Heating capacity of the outdoor unit measured as the total indoor heating capacity unit
Outdoor power input (Pe, outdoor)
Effective power input measured on the outdoor unit
Outdoor energy efficiency ratio (EERoutdoor)
Ratio of the outdoor cooling capacity to the outdoor power input
Outdoor energy efficiency ratio (COPoutdoor )
Ratio of the outdoor heating capacity to the outdoor power input
System energy efficiency ratio (EERcombination)
Ratio of the outdoor cooling capacity to the power input of the system

Testing requirements

Reference standard regarding thermal performances

Performance testing using the calorimeter room method:
EN 14511-3:2018 : “Air conditioners, liquid chilling packages and heat pumps with electrically driven compressors for space heating and cooling”.

Performance testing using the air enthalpy method:
EN 14511-3:2018 :  “Air conditioners, liquid chilling packages and heat pumps with electrically driven compressors for space heating and cooling”

Reference standard regarding seasonal thermal performances

EN 14825:2016 “Air conditioners, liquid chilling packages and heat pumps, with electrically driven compressors, for space heating and cooling. Testing and rating at part load conditions and calculation of seasonal performance”.

Reference standard regarding acoustical testing

EN 12102 “Air conditioners, liquid chilling packages, heat pumps and dehumidifiers with electrically driven compressors for space heating and cooling - Measurement of airborne noise - Determination of the sound power level” with exception of the duct end correction method described in section 6.2.2 of this standard.

Reference standard regarding seasonal thermal performances for high ambient units

ISO 15042:2017 “Multiple split-system air-conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps - Testing and rating for performance”

SASO 2874:2016 “Air conditioners – Minimum energy performance requirements and testing requirements”

Rating requirements

Rating requirements are in accordance with EN 14511.

The corrections of the total cooling capacity or heating capacity due to the power input of fans for indoor units with duct connection described in EN 14511-3 clause 4.1 shall not be carried out.

Performance are defined for a system capacity ratio equals to 100%.
